Student Guide Program

Student Guide Program at the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum

The Student Guide Program is a full-year paid training program that offers students an opportunity to work closely with Museum Engagement staff, learn about the Museum's collection, and give tours (in-person and virtually) to campus and community audiences. MHCAM Student Guides come from a wide variety of backgrounds and diverse academic interests – you need not be an art history major to apply. Ideal candidates are intellectually curious, enjoy connecting people with art, and are enthusiastic about making the Museum a welcoming and accessible place for all visitors.

The student guide program meets on Friday afternoons (1:30-4:30pm) for the full academic year. Student Guides must be able to meet on Fridays in both the fall and spring semesters and plan their schedules accordingly. All Student Guides receive student employment compensation for participating in the program.

Application Information for the 2025-2026 academic year:

Student Museum Guide applications are due Monday, April 7, 2025 at 11:59 pm. Applications will be posted to the Workday Student Jobs portal soon.

Required documents will include the following:

1. Resume (must include name, class year, and major/minor)
2. 1-2 page written statement reflecting on the following:
   • Why are you interested in applying for the Museum’s Student Guide Program?
   • What are some of your academic and extracurricular interests?
   • What is an idea you have that would help make the Museum a more welcoming and accessible place?
   • What do you hope to learn from your experience as a Student Guide?
3. List of two references (not Museum staff), one of which must be a faculty member; please include name, title, and email address for each reference
