We are reinstalling our permanent collection galleries!
November 2026 will mark the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum’s 150th anniversary. As we look towards this important milestone and the future beyond, Museum staff are re-envisioning how we display the collection to better reflect our values and mission. The ambitious work of modernizing and reinstalling the permanent collection galleries has already begun and will continue in phases between now and fall 2026.
The goal of this full-scale reimagining is to broaden, diversify, and deepen the stories we are able to share. To do this, we are taking a chronological and global approach, allowing us to include artworks from a broader range of cultures not previously on view. These new objects, new connections, and new stories will ultimately make the Museum a more welcoming and inclusive space for generations to come.
Current gallery closures:
The Evans Gallery and the Caroline Hill Gallery are currently closed. For reference, please see the map below. Note that European Art is currently featured in the exhibition Northern Exposure, on view in the new Wendy M. Watson Gallery. See the Visit page for up-to-date closing information.
Newly reinstalled galleries:
The Norah Warbeke Gallery reopened in March 2025 with the Museum’s earliest holdings through 700 CE. In addition, the Weissman Gallery opened in fall 2023 with a new installation of modern and contemporary art from the permanent collection. See map below for more details.
