Prints and Drawings

Prints and drawings make up the Museum’s single largest holding, with over 7,000 works. A broad category that traverses cultures and includes such wide ranging art forms as chiaroscuro woodcuts, illuminated manuscripts, Japanese woodblock prints, maps, propaganda posters, calligraphy, and artist’s sketches and drawings, this collection supports teaching on diverse topics. Areas of particular depth include Old Master prints and drawings, 19th- and 20th-century French and American prints, and contemporary works on paper.
