Let Us Vote: An Artist Intervention

Artist Aram Han Sifuentes in conversation with Associate Professor of Art Lisa Iglesias

What would voting look like if it were available and accessible to those who can’t legally vote? An estimated ninety-two million adults cannot vote in presidential elections because of citizenship status, felony disenfranchisement, or because they reside in a U.S. territory, while others are cut out of the process for reasons such as lack of proper identification or they have been purged from the voter registration rolls.

Join us for a live conversation with artist Aram Han Sifuentes to hear how she has been reenvisioning the voting process in her acclaimed and ongoing collective art project "The Official Unofficial Voting Station: Voting for All Who Legally Can’t." This collaborative initiative aims to spark imaginative voting stations across the country that become sites for social engagement and discussion. The conversation between the artist and associate professor of art Lisa Iglesias will be followed by a Q & A with the audience and will be recorded. Free and open to the public.

Co-sponsored by the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum, the Studio Art Department, the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives, and MHC Votes
